RAMALLAH, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Jewish settlers attacked on Thursday a Palestinian school, raising fears that conflicts between Israelis and Palestinians may increase when the U.N. Security Council was debating on a Palestinian bid for statehood, witnesses and security sources said. The witnesses said that several Jewish settlers threw stones and empty bottles at Kortoba females school in the southern West Bank city of Hebron. The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) warned recently of Israeli plans to increase Jewish settler attacks on the Palestinians to drag them to a new cycle of violence in the wake of the Palestinian bid to the UN for statehood. Around half a million Jewish settlers live in 120 settlements in the West Bank, where 2.7 million Palestinians live. Daily friction between them always led to violence. Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources said on Thursday that the Israeli army arrested six Palestinians in the West Bank, mainly in the areas of Hebron and Jenin. The Israeli radio said that the six Palestinians were wanted by the Israeli intelligence for being involved in attacks against Israeli army and settlers.
