WASHINGTON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The biggest headwind U.S. economy is facing is the uncertainty about Europe, U.S. President Barack Obama said at a White House press conference on Thursday. Obama said that the ongoing sovereign debt and banking crisis posed severe threat to the already fragile U.S. economy. "They have got to act fast," Obama said, urging his European counterparts to take bold actions to prevent the crisis to spill over in the highly interconnected world economy. "We have got a G20 meeting coming up in November. My strong hope is that by the time of that G20 meeting, that they have a very clear concrete plan of action that is sufficient to the task, " Obama said. The European Central Bank held its rate for its main refinancing operations unchanged at 1.5 percent, despite slowing growth on the continent and ongoing worries about a Greek default and vulnerability in banks holding sovereign debt.
