Top companies hire IT people all the time. Their goal is to reduce turnover and hire quality people to keep the organization running in the most productive way possible. Don't assume that these HR departments are simply that good at the hiring process. Most of the top companies, including those in the Fortune 500, are using an IT recruiter. Why use an IT recruiter? There are many reasons why companies hire a recruiter. Much of it has to do with saving time. HR departments have a million and one things going on and they can't take the time to stop what they're doing to hire. It's not something that they are trained for and it could affect various other departments by losing focus. The IT recruiter is going to handle virtually everything. While the person in charge is still able to make the final decision, the recruiter helps to make that process simpler by narrowing down the field to a handful of qualified individuals. It's not uncommon for a company to ask the recruiter to not only find people but also to conduct preliminary interviews, reference checks, credit checks, and even background checks. It's important to be confident that you have the right person in front of you prior to offering them a job. One wrong move and you suddenly have a person on the payroll that may not be capable of pulling their weight or be unproductive. This could lead to more training, a loss of productivity, and potentially a higher turnover rate because they will get fired or feel overwhelmed and quit. All your time spent hiring is for nothing because you have to turn around and do it all over again. An IT recruiter takes the time to get to know the heartbeat of a company. All of the top companies have reasons why people love to work there. They have created a culture where people enjoy working, are productive, and feel comfortable. This culture needs to be embraced by the people who are vying for the job position and it is the responsibility of the recruiter to make sure this happens. A lot of preliminary work can be done by the recruiter so that it doesn't have to be a concern of the HR department. The companies can step in and become involved once the recruiter is confident that there are a few qualified candidates. At this point, any one of them can be hired – it is simply a matter of preference for the person who is making the final hiring decision. By working with an IT recruiter, you take pointers from the top companies because they have already figured how to make life easier on themselves. You don't have the time to do your own hiring and the sooner you realize this, the sooner you can begin contacting a recruiter that will make your life easier. The top companies hire an IT recruiter for a reason. It is cost effective and leads to hiring the right person.
