Low Cost Web Design Comes With A Great Deal

Art and Culture
I learn a whole lot about income psychology in a recent small enterprise networking getting together with north London web design services. If I could help anyone, get a good deal sell my own services, I turned up with an open mind, an old suit, some business cards and a design brochure, ready to see. Although I did not achieve any of those goals it was a very interesting learning experience.

Another web designer was making his way around the room. He was an impressive character in a lot of way the smart suit, the confident manner and a kind of technique for talking to people in a way that really made them want to listen. Before he had schmoozed his way into chatting up a prospective client from a human resources consultancy, it was not long. I was impressed by his approach because she was clearly dazzled by his whole style as they chatted about business and he told her about the amazing offerings his company could provide.

He made a reference to a basic technical point that was completely wrong, though at one point. Any web design professional in the room would have been embarrassed at that point because it was one of those basic misunderstandings that you would never expect. The lady he was talking to obviously had no idea he was wrong but I realized straight away that he was not really from the same industry as myself. Rather, he was a salesperson hired by a company. I listened closer it became obvious that the service he was offering her was exactly the same as my one except priced more than five times as much.

I found it a little annoying that she was happy to consider a service that was completely overpriced simply due to the way in which it was sold to her. Although I could offer all the same benefits for much less I failed to make any impact on her later during our conversation. In fact, selling my service as the low cost web design alternative only seemed to put her off. It was frustrating to see that she was clearly more impressed by him simply because of the style of his presentation.

Unfortunately, this was not a one off example. I have seen this scenario played out dozens of times. I even have a client who met a similar character at a business meeting and was persuaded to part with thousands of pounds and to switch his website away from me. If he could come back to my low cost service but it was a shame because I had found it so hard to persuade him that the other company was not really going to deliver anything for which it would be worth paying that kind of money, later, I was relieved when he called and asked. He was so dazzled by them that it was like to trying to reason with somebody who had been hypnotized. Low cost web design is about getting honest service The way some people do business is very different, sometimes fundamentally dishonest. That is what I discovered. They get away with charging much more and they need that money to pay for the sales people who are so good at persuading clients to part with it. Sometimes, they do as much work on the selling as they do on the project itself.

Along come the big stylish proposals, the meetings and presentations conceived of only for sales reasons. And of course plenty of people fall for it. After all, they have decided to sort out their marketing so they are persuaded that spending that much money must surely do the trick. And above all they love the attention they get from the sales people, it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling that no affordable web designer can afford to give them because they are just too busy getting on with the real job of providing value for each penny spent. By focusing more on sales and charging extra to make it possible, these experiences have occasionally made me think about changing my whole business approach. I've certainly improved my ability to sell but something about that way of doing business just does not feel right to me. In the future, I would like to look back on a career where I really helped people rather than one in which I succeeded only at their expense. And so I decided to continue to promote myself as a provider of low cost web design. We all have to make a living but I want to do it with a bit of dignity and pride. Sometimes, it may be necessary to spend more money to get the right result. Equally, a cheap solution may fail to deliver in key areas. But my advice to people choosing their service is simply to stay objective at all times. Look beyond the charm and try to create a checklist of what you are actually getting and how much you are paying for those items. Consider how the company is spending their money how much of it goes on sales, how much they keep and how much is actually left for your web design service.
