A filter press is a kind of mechanical tool that is used for the purpose of separating solids from liquids. There are different types of filter presses available in the market, each having its own use. Filter presses are widely used for a number of industrial applications, such as petrochemical industries, industrial laundries and removal of textile wastes. They are also extensively used in water treatment plants for the purification of water. A filter press helps in the separation of solid wastes from liquids by lowering the weight and bulk of the waste materials. During operation, a pump is used to process the slurry to a filter press. This slurry then passes through a series of chambers within the filter press, finally coming out as the filtered liquid while leaving behind all the solid waste matters. The solid wastes that are extracted by the filter press are referred to as filter cakes. These machines are made up of vertical recessed plates that are arranged by side that presses against each other by the hydraulic jacks that are present at the end of the present set. The joint faces of the filtering plate needs to withstand chamber internal pressure that is produced by sludge pumping mechanism. The vertical plate layout gives rise to watertight filtration chambers that make it easy for the filter cakes to be discharged. Tightly arranged filter clothes are used in the 2 grooved surfaces within the plates. The screw pump presents the sludge that is to be filtered with pressure in the chamber dedicated for filtration. This solid sludge gets accumulated in filtration chamber until the formation of the final compact cake. Finally, the filter cake is then discharged by filter press at a later stage. Filtrate is then collected in the back of filtration support, which is then removed away by the internal ducts. Filter presses are widely used in water treatment plants. Commercial water treatment plants that aim to purify waste water use these devices to separate the liquid water from its solid wastes. The water is passed through a filter press which helps in the removal of various debris, dirt and other particles such as plastic, wood, rags, seeds, gravel, sand and mud. Then the wastewater is removed from these filter presses and processed further for additional purification. Filter presses form an indispensable part of commercial water treatment plants as in they help during the primary stage of water purification. There are many filter press manufacturers, who can supply quality filter presses for your water treatment plants, sewage treatment and effluent treatment plants.
