Traffic warning signs and traffic signs in general are often overlooked by most people not only in the UK but in the entire world. As they have always been in existence we tend to overlook their importance, having to learn them solely to pass the theory part of our driving exam. The reality is that the roads would be a disaster and a lot of people would get killed on the roads if they did not exist. This was all courtesy of three major transformations, the Anderson Committee which was the first to work on the current traffic system in the 1950’s. The Worboys Committee was formed in the 1960’s to review the traffic system in the entire country. Guildford rules the current colour coding of the system that was invented to declutter the traffic signs system that was first used on an experimental basis in the town of Guildford thus the name. Insights on the traffics signs in the UK The traffic signs in the UK generally are basically the same despite the being either warning signs or regulatory signs. The shape though it might not seem like is as they are very different but all traffic signs in the country have rounded corners to ensure that they are safer and last longer as they are harder to corrode while also provide great aesthetics. The uniqueness of the UK’s traffic signs is most evident in the units of measurement as the use imperial units rather than Si or standard international units. The traffic signs are much the same as those used in other countries when it comes to their reflective ability colours but they usually are multi-lingual or use two languages in some areas of the country such as wales and Scotland to make it more convenient for the locals and travellers.
