The Astrological birth chart is made up of all the Planets, the Sun, the Moon, the Rising Sign and the Midheaven. The placements of these components are recorded on the Wheel of 12 Houses. The Rising Sign or Ascendant is the constellation that was on the Eastern horizon at the time of your birth and determines the beginning of the first house. The other 11 houses are placed anticlockwise around the wheel. Each planet has a relationship to the other heavenly bodies in your birth chart. These relationships are measured in degrees and are called ASPECTS. When planets are in an aspect of 0, 60, 90, 120, or 180 degrees, it is called a major aspect. When planets are in aspect of 30, 45, 72, 135, 144 or 150 degrees of separation they are considered minor aspects. Each sign has a ruling planet, and that planet and sign is said to rule a particular house and each house represents a sphere of life. The First house is ruled by Leo and the Sun.
