Take A Peek Into The World's Most Expensive Wine Storage Lockers

Business,Business
Most of us have a pretty clear picture of what we would do, where we would travel, and what we would buy if money weren't a consideration. For many people, these dreams of an ideal, luxurious life involve elaborate dinners and parties, complete with the very best beverages the world has to offer. Although some people prefer whiskey or scotch, for many, the perfect meal isn't complete without a carefully selected wine to compliment the cuisine. So what type of vino will you find in the wine storage lockers of the most exclusive restaurants and private homes in the world? Let's just say that you may want to bring your checkbook.

1. Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Grand Cru

Made in Cote de Nuits, France, this particular bottle will set you back 8,310 euros. Experts describe it as the perfect Burgundy, as the wine must be made from at least 85% Pinot Noir grapes in order to claim the Romanee-Conti Grand Cru label. The Archbishop of Paris himself once described it as "velvet and satin in bottles."

2. Egon Muller-Scharzhof Scharzhofberger Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese

A proud product of Germany, this Riesling costs 4,577 euros. It is produced on the banks of the Moselle River along Rheingau vineyard. Although many people don't think to associate Germany with fine vinos, the 2010 vintage was given a score of 100% by critics. Most collectors would be proud to have this particular Riesling in their wine storage lockers.

3. Domaine Leflaive Montrachet Grand Cru

Similar to the first wine mentioned, this Chardonnay is produced in France, specifically in Cote de Beaune. It retails for a price of 3,716 euros. Produced at the famous Puligny-Montrachet estate, this white is described as "biodynamic." The growing cycles of the grapes take into account the phases of the moon and the positions of the planets to give this Chardonnay its smoky, toasty, and buttery taste.

4. Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Montrachet Grand Cru

Made in Cote de Beaune, France and retailing at 2,948 euros, this wine has received more awards than any other white from the region. Reviewers are especially fond of the vino's scent, describing it as "multidimensional" and containing notes of graphite, honey, pineapple, pear, vanilla, and orange peel.

5. Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Ermitage Cuvee Cathelin

Coming in at 2,403 euros a bottle, this vino is made from the dark-skinned Syrah grape, also known as Shiraz. It is produced in Rhone, France in a family vineyard that has been in operation since 1481, making the Chave line France's winemaking royal family. This particular blend is said to taste floral, but it will develop more herbaceous and peppery notes as it ages.

Maybe your wine storage lockers are not yet filled with bottles costing over 8,000 euros each, but that doesn't mean your stock is any less valuable. As long as you have good company and conversation, you can have a wine night that feels like it cost a million dollars.
