Personal injury law is one of those mysterious areas of information that we all know about, yet cannot describe accurately. We have seen all of the adverts on the television and heard all of the stories in the news, but what do we really understand about it? You may not realise that there are a vast number of areas of personal injury claims. These can be split down into a number of categories, and each has their own intricacies and small details.
Vehicle related claims One of the big areas of personal injury is that which is related to vehicular injuries. Of course a car crash is the first thing that springs to mind, from something like whiplash through to more serious accidents. An uninsured motorist could also be a reason for you to make a claim. However, there is more to this type of claim than you may realise. You can also sue over boating accidents where there has been some injury caused. Motorcycle accidents are also included, as are those which involve a truck. Even as a pedestrian, you can get involved in an accident which gives you a claim for compensation. Just because you were not driving a car at the time does not mean that you do not have a personal injury vehicle claim.
Different types of injuries You may not realise the extent of claims that personal injury covers either. It can go from the slightest injury, such as the whiplash example above, right the way through to something as serious as death. Any injuries to your head or brain are very serious and should be treated as such. This is something that you can make a claim over very well, especially as we all know the complications which can come further down the line from damage to the brain. Serious injury or death are of course things that you can claim for, especially when the death is considered to be a wrongful case. Even if all you do is to slip and fall, the consequences can be dire – and this means that your claim may be larger than you think.
Various places and causes Do not think that your claim is not valid just because it occurred somewhere out of the ordinary, or due to unusual causes. Construction accidents are a very clear case, and you may be covered even if there were warning signs up around the area or you were working on the site. Maritime cases are a similar example, allowing you to claim in out of the ordinary situations. If you believe you were served more alcohol than you should have been, lawfully or morally, then any injury stemming from this may give you reason to claim. Just remember that if you have been injured in any way, there may be a claim in it for you. The only way to find out is to get in touch with a personal injury lawyer and ask them.
