Many people understand the basics about the nervous system. They know that there is a central nervous system that connects the whole body together and relays messages to the brain. However, the central nervous system is only one component of the overall nervous system. In fact, there is also the peripheral nervous system that connects the extremities to the central nervous system which then connect things to the brain. Nerve damage is likely to occur in the peripheral nervous system. That nerve damage can happen a number of ways. Physical trauma is a big cause of nerve damage. In fact even when you sit wrong you can suffer from minor nerve damage (think of your arm or leg “falling asleep”). What most people don’t realize is that taking certain prescription drugs can lead to peripheral neuropathy , or damage to the peripheral nervous system. There are some drugs, like Avelox, that do very well at the job they are intended to perform. Avelox, for instance, is an antibiotic drug that many people use to fight off infection of the lungs. The problem with these drugs, however, is that they tend to have a lot of side effects. One side effect of Avelox is that it can cause nerve damage. This nerve damage is irreversible. When you sit wrong and your foot falls asleep it starts to tingle. This “fuzzy feet” sensation goes away after the nerve loosen and everything can flow freely again. Taking Avelox can have this same effect. However, the fuzzy feet sensation doesn’t go away. Instead, if the drug is not discontinued, the damage can progress and all feeling can be lost in the feet. If it is really left unattended, paralysis can ensue. If you have used Avelox, and you have suffered from fuzzy feet (the human body is amazing, and there is a chance that your body can fix the problem on its own), you should speak with a dangerous drug attorney right away.
