Basically there are two forms of T-shirt printing and the most prominent among them would be screen printing as it's in existence for more than a millennium, it's faster and more importantly it's also cheaper. However, the new form of digital printing termed as direct to garment printing is catching on and gaining acceptance world-wide because of its exceptional quality. The present day direct to garment printing technology is based on a device which is similar to an inkjet printer. The only difference here is the fact that you're printing on garment rather than paper. You may wonder why people would opt for direct to garment printing when there are other alternatives available. Well, you won't know the difference unless you feel it yourself. Direct to garment printed products feel the same even after the image has been printed on the garment and this is what makes them special. For most people, comfort is their top priority and therefore they wouldn't mind paying a little more if they were going to obtain garments that were smooth and didn't possess any kind of rough edges. The move from light garments to dark garments In the very beginning when this technology was first introduced, the procedure was only applicable to light colored garments as it never looked good on dark colors due to the inferior technology. However, now that this technology has improved, there are a few companies that offer the services of direct to garment printing on dark colors as well. The main problem that is faced in this case would be the high costs of the cartridges that are needed for this purpose. These printers aren't that expensive and are reasonably priced even though they cost thousands of dollars. But, if you consider printing on dark colors for large volume orders, you would have to use a lot of ink, which in turn would lead to higher production costs. You need to be picky As already mentioned, there aren't plenty of companies that offer direct to garment printing on dark colors. This statement needs to be modified a bit as there are quite a few that do offer printing on dark colors, but just a handful of them offer you quality services. Most of the smaller companies that offer this service wouldn't make use of the best colors and the final print wouldn't just be of a lower quality, but also lighter. You can't actually blame them as the cost of the ink used is really high and people won't be willing to pay small firms big money. Bulk Orders tend to take time to process Most of the printers that are involved in this process can only produce around 10 individual pieces an hour. The average rate of production tends to lure around 3 - 10 minutes per piece. Therefore, if you do need a large order for a specific occasion, it would be wise to order your direct to garment printing garments well in advance.
