MUMBAI, July 23 (Xinhua) -- How often do you come across people who take it upon themselves to care of those who need it most? Are there strangers holding your hands and making you feel wanted and cared for, and calling you family? Sanket Mestry was fortunate to meet such an unusual group, called MSSI, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India, a sunshine aid group for tens of thousands of people crippled by the disease of multiple sclerosis, also known as MS in medical circles. MSSI is like a family to him, said Mestry, bringing sunshine to his life, helping him cope with his condition as he was suffering from MS. MSSI is a support group that works for the upkeep of the health of multiple sclerosis patients. In fact, it is the only society in India working for those suffering from multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis is chronic progressive incurable disease of the central nervous system, in which simple, ever day tasks become a challenge. The support group is affiliated to the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) along with MS Societies of 49 countries.
