Parents are often impulsive when it comes to buying toys for their children. They usually don't give too much attention on the type of gift or toy that they would purchase. For one, they just buy whatever is popular and in demand. Items such as dolls, robots and game stations almost often fly off the shelves as soon as they go on sale either because the parents have seen them on television or because the children themselves have seen their friends receive similar toys. Toys that are often advertised in tri-media outlets (television, newspaper and radio) are also usually the ones parents tend to buy for their kids. They think that the more popular the toy, the more useful it is. Moreover, parents stick to the eye battery operated cars for kids- the seemingly attractive ones with fancy car color mixes, furry accessories and whatnots. What parents don't realize, however, is that the toys they buy for their children speak so much of them, of how much they value their children and their welfare. While fun and attractive toys seem to be the norm, parents should know that educational and functional toys should actually be given more preference. After all, isn't it better to purchase a toy that's not only nice, durable and fun but handy and useful as well? One of the toys that parents could buy is the pedal car. Also called a quadracycle, the pedal car is that modern, mini transportation vehicle usually made for children. Interestingly, however, history would tell us that the pedal car was initially made for adult recreation. From the very basic toy pedal car, the ones available now range from pedal fire trucks to pedal airplanes. In fact, there are even custom made toy cars complete with leather seats. So exactly why should parents buy toy cars for their kids? For one, these metal toy cars can help develop dexterity, problem solving skills, hand/eye coordination and reasoning skills. This toy can help keep children developmentally sound and mentally healthy. Just imagine - if the child turns left, you can remind him of what "left" is. Also, if the child stops pedalling because a huge stone is blocking his way, then that shows the child's reasoning skills - now if the child steps out of his pedal car and moves the stone, that's an amazing display of problem solving skills! Secondly, children will never forget their very first set of wheels. Come to think of it, a toy car is a far cry from the run-of-the-mill bicycle. The toy car brings more joy, satisfaction and confidence. It's cuter and more attractive, too! Given these, parents should battery operated ride ons for their children. These are certainly money well spent.
