Picking the right mattress is an important decision for your comfort on a daily basis. Even if a particular mattress model has nothing but glowing reviews all over the web, you still need to make sure it is a good fit for you. There is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ mattress because comfort is such an individual opinion. What is perfectly comfortable for one user might feel terrible to another, so you really have to lay down on each mattress you are considering. Fortunately, almost all mattress stores are set up in such a way that it is easy to try a variety of mattresses in just a short period of time. After 10 or 15 minutes moving around the store trying various models, you should have a good idea of which ones will suit your best. When you do visit a store for the latest mattress sales, don’t let a salesperson pressure you into making a quick decision. After an initial ‘tour’ of the store to narrow down your choices to a select few, it may take some additional time to settle on the exact model you will choose. If a salesperson is pressuring you into making a purchase, you might feel the need to cut your time short just to get out the door. Let the salespeople know up front that you plan on taking your time and you will let them if you have any questions. Consider Your Partner If you sleep next to a significant other each night, don’t forget that the mattress needs to work well for both of you. Pick a day when you can both visit the store together so you can simultaneously test out mattresses to look for the one that meets both of your needs. Also, if one of you tends to move around a lot in your sleep, take a look at mattresses which are designed to limit the transfer of movement from one side of the bed to the other.
