Summer is drawing to a close and the Labor Day holiday will soon be here. From September 5-7, Americans all across the country will be enjoying the last long travel weekend of the year. A Grand Canyon sightseeing flight tour would be the perfect way to top off your holiday weekend and end the summer. Labor Day will be here before you know it, so start planning your trip now and get your tour booked as early as next week. Flights From Las Vegas The tours that originate in Vegas can be landing tours or aerial tours. Book a landing tour if you can, one of the most popular ones is where the chopper flies to the canyon floor and sets down by the Colorado River. This tour includes a nice champagne picnic and you can also add on a river boat tour that is very scenic and fun. There are other things you can add on too. Helicopters can land on top of the rim too. Then you can take a walk on the Grand Canyon Skywalk. The Skywalk is a thrilling attraction with a floor made of thick glass that allows you to stand over the canyon floor thousands of feet below you. The view is simply amazing and it is a great addition to an aerial tour of the canyon. While helicopter tours are exciting and fun, if you need to save money, or if you are traveling with a large group that wants to stick together, then taking an airplane tour is a better option. Airplanes don't land on the canyon floor, but they do cover the same ground as helicopters, and the only difference is you'll fly at a higher altitude. Also, if you plan to book a South Rim tour, then taking an airplane tour out of Vegas is the best way to get there. Helicopter Flights Over The South Rim Whether you drive to the airport in Tusayan which is near the South Rim, or if you fly there from Vegas, you'll have your choice of two helicopter tours. One of them lasts a half an hour and flies to the North Rim and returns. The better option is to take the longer tour that gives you fifty minutes of air time. This long tour flies over to the eastern border of the park as well as the remote North Rim and the South Rim. This tour is so comprehensive that you'll see about 3/4 of the entire Grand Canyon when you take it. You can't take a landing tour at the South Rim because helicopters are prohibited from landing there, but you can upgrade your tour to include a Jeep tour that follows the air tour. The Jeep tour is a scenic 2 1/2 hour ground tour through the park. You'll appreciate getting to see the park from the ground as well as from the air. Deluxe Tour Upgrades The basic tours are the most economical. These Grand Canyon flights utilize Bell Rangers and AStar choppers. These tours are great, but the deluxe tours are even better and worth the extra cost. EcoStar helicopters are used on these deluxe tours. They are made for commercial sightseeing, so they offer a more comfortable ride. There are no bad seats on these choppers because the comfy bucket seats are positioned stadium style. The cabin is quiet and roomy, and you'll appreciate the huge wraparound window which gives you the best views possible. The deluxe tours are more convenient too since they lift off right from the Vegas Strip, plus you get free shuttle transportation in a limousine. The tour airplanes carry 19 passengers at a time and the tours utilize Twin Otter airplanes. These sightseeing airplanes offer great views too through their large windows. Buy Your Tour Early You'll need to buy your tour within the next week so you'll be ahead of the Labor Day holiday rush. Buy your tour online so you get instant confirmation of your seat reservations, and you'll get the added perk of finding the lowest prices online too. All air tours of the Grand Canyon are memorable occasions. Airplane tours are good if you travel with a larger group or if you are on a budget, plus if you book a plane tour to the South Rim, you'll have the chance to see the wilderness area in that part of the canyon, which looks different from the landscape in Nevada. Buy your tour as soon as possible and do it online to save money, then you'll be ready to tour America's treasure on Labor Day.
