The heart should have some kind of twist to make it stand out, like a gemstone accent. These days, many jewelers favor a silver heart with diamonds. Alternatively, the heart could feature a special design. Infinity hearts are very popular these days--that is 1 or more hearts with the infinity symbol worked into the design to symbolize eternal love. For that matter, women who already have a heart necklace might enjoy getting a simple infinity symbol by itself for the same reason. For a woman who loves history, consider a Claddagh ring, which is a traditional Irish ring featuring 2 hands holding a heart topped with a crown. These 3 elements represent friendship, love, and loyalty respectively, and the symbol has a rich backstory that either the gift giver or the gift recipient could enjoy researching. Engagement Rings Probably the most special of all jewelry gifts, an engagement ring will last for a very long time, so it’s important to get it right. If you already know the recipient’s taste in jewelry or general style, so much the better. If she likes art deco, for instance, the engagement ring should be larger with chunky angles and bold geometric shapes. This is for the artistic, metropolitan woman. A traditional woman may prefer a vintage style with a gold ring, a center diamond, and some smaller accent diamonds. If she prefers things simple, though, a solitaire stone is probably the way to go. There are also plenty of options outside of the traditional gold band with a diamond. These days, many couples look at alternative jewelry to find a ring that is unique to them. They often look very similar to traditional rings with something to make them special. For instance, a rose gold engagement ring with diamonds usually has the same general look as a standard gold ring, but the color makes it pop. A rose gold engagement ring has a very particular look with its light pink color, but those who prefer almost any style or color scheme can find something to match their tastes. Bands come in several colors, and gemstones come in even more, and all of them are available in a variety of settings. Shopping around, it is often possible to mix and match.
