The HVAC system makes you home comfortable especially during the harsh weather periods of summer and winter but it is quite an expensive investment you have to make as a homeowner. Once the AC system has seen better days, you will begin calling an Ac repair contractor into your home to make small or major repair leading to more costs. The AC repair technician offers a service and some important advice but what most people don’t realize is that there are times when doing a completely new AC installation would be the most affordable option. Most homeowners don’t know when to choose between AC repair service and new AC installation. Count the years: A good air conditioner contractor will tell you that when your HVAC system has clocked ten years and the furnace has hit about fifteen years, it is time to consider toing a replacement instead of expensive repairs. As time goes on, your HVAC system will begin becoming less efficient and when you consider the advancement in technology, you will realize that you could actually save yourself a great deal of headache in terms of efficiency by getting a new system. Most people who do HVAC replacement realize they start saving up to 15-20% on monthly power bills. Temperature swings: One of the greatest problems with having an aging HVAC system is their inability to maintain constant temperatures all over the house. What this means is that some rooms will become cooler than others and in most cases, those temperature swings will take a much longer time to cool down after they have been cycled back; once this has started happening you can be sure that the problem will continue to be more persistent. Dust, leaks and moisture: The other sign that will show you it is about time with your HVAC system and that you are better off doing a replacement instead of doing repairs has to do with humidity, dust and leaks. If your HVAC system has a duct system you are likely to experience a buildup of dust and dirt that eventually leads to leakages; this leads to leaks from the compressor or coils. When you combine this with an age that is more than 10 years, you will be paying the AC repair contractor more often than is necessary. Lastly, if there is more dust in your system than what you should consider normal shows that you have a problem in your hands with the ductwork. The AC system may be coming from the attics, crawlspaces and the basement as a result of the leaks or tears; the dust is thereafter distributed throughout the house. Last but not least, check your utility bills, if the system is more than ten years old and the bills begin rising, it’s time to consider new AC installation.
