There are many people in the world today using drones from recreational use to filming movies to checking on their crops. So, I ask this question; do drones need to be regulated? Let's see what reasons there might be to regulate drone use. The basic details of the registration system for drones has not been sorted out yet but the government hopes to have it set up in a couple of months. The government decided that needed to take action swiftly because the surge in drone sales. They say drones are interfering with regular air traffic. Passenger plane pilots and other aircraft report sightings of or close calls with more than 100 rogue drones per month. They say sightings by passenger plane pilots and other planes were virtually unheard of before last year but sales have escalated and so have incidents involving close calls with drones. There is projected to be a 63% increase in drones sales this year compared to 2014. Drone owners are not supposed to fly their drones above 400 feet or within five miles of an airport without permission but officials have no ability to hunt down the offenders. New drone owners will have to register their purchases of drones online and confirm that they have familiarized themselves with the basic guidelines for where drones can fly and under what conditions they can fly. Nuisance drones have supposedly interfered with many things beside air traffic. Some of which are firefighters, crashing into buildings and bystanders, and it is said that criminals have used drones to fly contraband to people in prison. Under a law passed by congress in 2012 the FAA is prohibited from imposing new restrictions on recreational drone owners so they have not been required to get training. The FAA has been reluctant to require registration for drone fliers and has instead focused on public awareness campaigns to educate drone users. Mounting reports of drones flying dangerously close to airliners and crashing near sensitive sites have lawmakers more alarmed. For instance, the drone that crashed on the White House lawn. Reportedly the FAA has received 22 reports in 2015 of drones flying dangerously close to aircraft. So, now the FAA has decided they want our ideas on how drones should be regulated. I do believe some laws regarding drones are necessary. I would not want to be in an airplane or have my friends and family in an airplane that was accidently interfered with by a drone. Crashing an airplane is not an option for me when the choice is between that or having regulations for drones, I will choose regulations for drones. On the other hand, I don’t like to give big brother any more control over my life than they already have. That said, if we respect the requirements of not flying above 400 feet and not flying within 5 miles of an airport, and respect peoples privacy, we should all be able to get along together and fly our drones without causing problems for aircraft or airports. We look forward to your thoughts and ideas on this matter. Are there enough valid reasons to have regulations for drones? Don't hesitate to comment on our blog or visit us at www.RCDronesPro.com and see our wide selection of drones. The next couple of months should be interesting as the government attempts to register all of our drones. Not a job I would want to tackle.
