Attorney Will Kautz successfully defended a client against a second offense DUI this week. Kautz’s client pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge. Kautz argued that his client had consumed alcohol after the accident occurred. Kautz says he “held the prosecutors’ feet to the fire for the benefit of my client!” The defendant was facing up to 6 months in jail if found guilty, but the defendant only received a $25 dollar fine plus court costs. The prosecution amended the charge to alcohol intoxication—a violation not a crime. When asked about the prosecutions decision, Kautz said the prosecutor "apparently saw the hand-writing on the wall." The charge was amended the day before the trial began.
