They say that if you look good, you’ll feel good. With so many different clothing options out there, though, it can be difficult to try and look good. There is so much pressure to buy the newest and greatest clothing items and disregard old, out of date pieces. If you are looking to expand your SLC closets, there are ways to do so without breaking the bank. Here are 5 great ways to keep yourself looking great this season: - Buy a few pieces each season. One of the best ways to build your wardrobe is to do so slowly. Each season, set a small budget to buy a few pieces. It’s not necessary to spend a ton of money to bring your clothing up to date. Whether it’s a cardigan, a pair of boots, or a few scarves, you will find that you don’t need much to freshen up your wardrobe. A few new pieces can bring flare to old pieces and leave you feeling confident in your style. After a few seasons, you will notice that your options have increased and you have plenty of new styles to choose from.
- Put seasonal clothing in bins. Sometimes you don’t actually need to add clothing to your wardrobe. If you’ve got a closet full of clothes, it might be time for you to clear out the items that are out of season and use what you’ve got. In July, there is no need for sweaters and scarves. Put them in bins and pull them out in October. You may be surprised at how many new outfits you can find to put together once your closet is less cluttered.
- Only buy a few trendy pieces. Each season, there are new trends that will come from the catwalks. While you might be tempted to run out and buy each new piece, don’t do it. Trendy items will go out of style within a few seasons. They can be pricey and might not be very versatile. Instead, pick one or two trendy items, and then go for some more neutral pieces. Mixing and matching old and new pieces will keep your wardrobe large. Plus, it will keep you from spending a lot of money on things that you won’t be wearing in a year.
- Sell old clothing. At least twice a year, go through your closet and purge old items. Take them to a second hand shop and try to sell them. There are plenty of stores that will purchase gently used clothing from you. With that extra money, you will be able to purchase some new clothing items to help you expand your wardrobe. It’s a great way to clean and organize your closet, while supplementing a more up to date wardrobe.
- Try a clothing rotation. Instead of buying all new clothing, try taking advantage of what is already in your closet. Each month, select 30 items of clothing from what you already have. This should include tops, bottoms, shoes, scarves, and belts. Put all other clothing items in bins and boxes. Then, only use these items for the next month. At the end of the month, put away the previous 30 items and choose 30 more from your bins. This will help you to utilize all of your clothing and not buy unnecessary items.
Expanding your SLC closets and wardrobe doesn’t have to be an expensive task. In fact, with the right research, it can be quite inexpensive. Use items that are already in your closet and slowly build on your favorite pieces. Not only will you look stylish, but you won’t break the bank doing it.
