Since April 2003 with the Cassandra update Google and other search engines have put a lot of effort into bettering the quality of search engine results. This effort does not stop at updating the algorithms used to calculate where each website ranks but also singling out those websites that continue to use Black hat SEO techniques to rank higher on the lists. So, the question posed by many a businessman is: “Is it worth the risk?” The answer given by almost all SEO consultants will be definitely NOT. Using black hat SEO techniques as a high risk factor; Black hat SEO refers to the use of aggressive SEO strategies, techniques and tactics that focus only on search engines and not a human audience, and usually does not obey search engines guidelines for example keyword stuffing, invisible text, doorway pages, adding unrelated keywords to the page content or page swapping as well as other like aggressive link reclamation, Building/buying links to competitors, Submitting fake consumer complaints. Black hat SEO is mostly used by those who are looking for a fast financial return on their Web site contrary to SEO Consultants who aim at creating long-term investment on their Web site. “What’s the worst that can happen? Black hat SEO can possibly result in your Web site being banned from a search engine, but because most experts who use Black Hat SEO tactics consider being banned from search engines a somewhat irrelevant risk Google is deciding to serve them with harsher penalties and manual actions in the future. What this means is that Google is referring to manual actions, the penalties you see in the Google Search Console that are doled out by Google Search Quality representatives themselves are going to be harsher. Google offered an example “a webmaster who received a Manual Action notification based on an unnatural link to another site may nofollow the link, submit a reconsideration request, then, after successfully being reconsidered, delete the nofollow for the link.” In these cases, the webmaster will decide upon stricter punishments one of them being a considerably longer time period before being able to lift the nofollow restriction or the action man be as extreme as deindexing the whole site from Google. However, the fear of penalties is not the only reason why black hat techniques need to be avoided, another is simply the cost. Why risk paying more in the long run or losing your website all together when there is a far better solution. Many if not all SEO consultants provide Affordable SEO packages that include all the white hat SEO techniques and methods needed to make a website successful. A fleeting success is simply not worth the risk as being a “black hatter” mostly has more drawbacks than benefits. And it goes without a doubt to say that as time progresses Google is only bound to become even more of a stickler for quality. Judging on all the updates that have led to where Google is today it is only a matter of time before Google manages to rid of all “black Hatters” in the near future.
