The Colosseum was commissioned around AD 70 to 72 by Emperor Vespasian and gifted the structure to the Roman people. After about 10 years, the structure was finished. By that time, Vespasian’s son Titus opened the Colosseum to 100 days of games. These games included gladiatorial combats, wild animal fights, and other such entertainment. But, after centuries of use, the Colosseum fell into disuse and slowly was pulled apart, used for other buildings and materials. Today, it is a major tourist attraction. Pantheon The Roman Pantheon is an extremely famous building, and it was created and dedicated between 118 and 125 AD. Emperor Hadian created the building to replace one that was burnt in 80 AD, built in 29-19 BC by Marcus Agrippa. It was classified as a temple, but it was an extremely different temple when compared to the others built in that century. The building is in remarkable shape for its age because it was used as a church from 608 AD on, after the Byzantine emperor Phocas gave the building to Pope Boniface.
