Is a lose weight journal a smart investment? Any effort to lose weight is effort not lost. But, it is more rewarding to have results with your effort. You know that feeling when you have tried all of these different ways to lose weight and none of them seem to resonate with you? In fact, this is probably the reason why you are reading this today! I know this frustrating feeling of trying different things, but nothing seems to stick. Although watching what you are eating is a good start, a lose weight journal isn’t the only thing you should be doing. There is more to losing weight than just journaling your eating habits. Once you see a pattern in your eating habits, you should make the necessary adjustments. Frankly, I don’t like this approach. Documenting what you ate that day and then slapping your wrist at the end of the day for the mistakes you made, is not a very positive way to lose weight. Weight loss is an emotional thing and you should be sending yourself positive vibes instead of feeling guilty for the bad food choices. Another reason that a lose weight journal is a bad idea is because you may withhold eating something because you don’t want to write it down and feel guilty about it later. It is a total mind game, and not a good one. I have done this approach and quite after a couple of weeks. It is also difficult to keep writing things down throughout the day or remembering what you ate and how much at the end of the day. That is way too much worry and stress. The best way I found around this is to have a menu plan instead of a food journal. Planning your meals in advance only takes 10 minutes a week instead of 10 minutes or more a day writing down what you eat. Planning ahead makes shopping for healthy foods easier and faster. A menu plan takes emotional eating out of the question because you already know what you should have for a snack or dinner. All fitness guru’s have meal plans. They know exactly what they are going to eat and how much. This is a more positive approach to losing weight. Being positive through weight loss is difficult but necessary.
