Indianapolis, Indiana - CLYR is pleased to announce its new platform that enables producers to clarify ingredients and manufacturing processes for packaged food products. The number of consumers who demand to know more about what’s inside the food they buy for themselves and their families continues to expand, yet their expectation of transparency and standardization has not been met—until now at www.getclyr.com |
The patent-pending technology behind CLYR starts with a CLYRscore,™ a single number that reflects the manufacturer’s transparency about what’s inside a product and how it’s made. The CLYRscore is based on the producer’s responses to 85+ questions that consumers care most about, and can be searched and filtered based upon many factors including: dietary needs, desirability of ingredients, manufacturing processes, animal welfare specifics, and more.
“We developed CLYR because the label on a package can only tell you part of the story,” says Jeff Goens, its co-founder and CEO, “and consumers have a right to know what’s really inside their food. With nearly 90% of Americans believing clearer labels are important, producers are looking to technology to help them share more in-depth information with their consumers.”
CLYR began as a beta platform in the summer of 2015 by its parent company, Mingredients LLC. This initial period led the company not only to platform adjustments and rebranding, but also to other innovations including CLYRtap,™ the patent-pending “tap-to-CLYR” experience that allows consumers to use any NFC-enabled mobile device to display a product’s CLYRscore.
“While other attempts to display extended label information have focused on QR technology used by only 2% of Americans on a daily basis, we decided to go a fundamentally different route,” said Brenda Schmidt, the company’s COO. “Our CLYRtap experience is not only more intuitive than scanning a code, but it also takes you to an easy-to-understand CLYRscore. We also believe that consumers will appreciate that CLYR is operated by an independent company, not by manufacturers or their representatives.”
With transparency being one of the hottest food industry trends, the CLYR platform is ready to serve the needs of an exploding market. Its foundation involved advanced technology partners, significant consumer feedback, a strategic sales incubation and piloting period, and early adoption by several industry-leading food producers. With CLYR, consumers can finally make more informed purchase decisions before they enter their local grocery store, or even while standing at the point of sale.
CLYR is owned and operated by Mingredients LLC, a privately-held technology company based in Carmel, Indiana. The company has grown substantially in the consumer packaged food sector, and looks forward to expanding its CLYR program into cosmetics, restaurants, and household goods.
