Being an adult means making lots of decisions you may have never thought about making before; it comes with the territory. You gain a lot of freedom and then you have to make choices because your mom isn't around every day to make them for you, unless you are an adult who still lives at home. Then you might still be able to get a few freebie decisions out of your mom. However, some of these decisions, though challenging, can be fun to make and will help you develop bits and pieces of your personality and style. One such decision is what type of bedroom set you would like to choose. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of bedroom sets available for sale currently, so it can be a bit overwhelming to try to decide which one fits your individual style, especially since this isn't a purchase you will make every few months. Here are some ways to narrow your search to get the style that fits you. Elegant Wood One of the popular choices for bedroom set owners around the world is to choose a nice, rich, elegant wood set. These sets will include a large headboard and footboard, a dresser, perhaps a chest, and nightstands. The wood will all match and the design will be consistent throughout the pieces. This is very popular because it is hard to go wrong with this choice. The elegant wood sets are the little black dresses of the furniture world. Most bedding styles will work with this since it is basically a blank, though elegant, canvas. High executives to budding adults will want to have a bedroom set like this because it sends the same message: that you have arrived. A bedroom set like this demands respect from visitors and shows that you are someone who likes to live by the book. You are classic and timeless and your style will never go out of style because no matter the century that you live in, it will always look good. Iron Another popular choice is to get an iron bed frame paired with other pieces. This style is a bit more whimsical. You have to put a little more time and effort into finding out what your taste is because iron bed frames don't typically come with matching pieces. You can go various directions with this. You can be eclectic and put very trendy and random geometric shapes into your space. You can go floral and have light breezy colors. Or you can go the antique route and pair your bed frame with stacked suitcases instead of nightstands and repurposed chests that you found at a flea market for your dressers. Whatever your style is, you will put your own spin on this trendy look. You can find a lot of ideas about how to dress up unusual pieces in interior design magazines. Shabby Chic Another direction you can go in if you are purchasing a bedroom set is to get a set that is new but looks old. It is very trendy now to have the "farmhouse" look or distressed wood throughout your home. This doesn't mean that you have to buy furniture that looks like it came from a dump. Just get furniture that looks in good shape and give it a little bit of personality. Show the woodgrain underneath the paint. It will give your space a bit more character and you can begin looking for items to display in your space like a white porcelain pitcher on your chest. This look can be particularly appealing if you have family heirlooms that you would like to display throughout your home. Whatever bedroom sets speak to you, you will be able to add a bit of your personal style to it.
