Global Road Technologies (GRT) is on-track for a successful 2016; with some exciting contracts already in the pipeline. This follows a busy six months completing works on some of the world’s most dilapidated roads and paths, using GRT’s patented polymer technology to make them safer for both the public, and on-site workers. Global Road Technology Managing Director Troy Adams said customers were recognising the benefits of the company’s solutions, including patented materials for dust suppression and cost-effective road construction. Mr Adams said GRT was expanding into new uses for polymers, including in water treatment infrastructure protection. The past 12 months were the most successful for the company to date, Mr Adams said, and Global Road Technologies was excited about the opportunities expected to be tackled in the year ahead. “In one of our recent projects in Papua New Guinea, Global Road Technology was able to successfully eliminate airborne dust at an oil refinery during a significant drought, allowing workers to remove their dusk masks for the first time,” Mr Adams said. “We are currently in discussions with Papua New Guinea government authorities and local companies to further expand our work in the country.” GRT has also been recognised for its work to protect an ancient archaeological site in the Middle East from the impacts of modern tourism. “We were selected to use our industry-leading polymer technology to upgrade the roads and walkways of the Mleiha archaeological site ahead of the opening of a new visitor site. “The United Arab Emirates regional development authority commissioned us due to our ability to build infrastructure sympathetic to the environment, which is harder wearing, faster to construct, and more environmentally friendly,” Mr Adams said. “Based on the feedback we have received from our client, and other procurement stakeholders in the region, we are confident we will be able to announce similar projects in the Middle East in the near future.” Global Road Technologies is also currently undertaking a trial in the Cooper Basin, including upgrading parts of the historic Strzelecki Track, which would benefit mining companies, transport operators and tourists. Mr Adams said GRT has recently expanded into water treatment, partnering with Unitywater to deliver its Zero Water Treatment product, a magnesium-based polymer solution that significantly reduces the impacts of hydrogen sulphide. “Hydrogen sulphide, and its associated odours, is a nuisance for workers, contractors and neighbouring communities,” Mr Adams said. “Our treatment offers operators a proven, cost-effective way to reduce these impacts.” Mr Adams said Global Road Technology was in negotiations with industry and governments in Australia and overseas for new projects, with a sizable contract in the South Pacific to be announced soon. The company recently received a Federal Government Innovation Connections Grant, to further develop its innovative road construction and dust suppression technology. “We are pleased with the success we have achieved over the past six months, and look forward the exciting year ahead,” Mr Adams said.
