When you think of Washington, D.C., you don’t automatically think of somewhere exceedingly romantic. Most people think that Washington, D.C., is full of suits and politicians, and therefore most restaurants are less suited towards the romantic. Fortunately for lovers in D.C., there are plenty of options for romantic restaurants in D.C. if you are looking for one. Here are just a few of the most popular (and the most expensive) options in D.C. if you are looking for a place to celebrate or just a place for a regular evening made special. Inn at Little Washington Many “Romantic Restaurants” lists put together by some well-known sources list this little venue as one of the most romantic spots in the general area. With a small Inn of 24 bedrooms, this spot features some of the most beautiful land in the country: historic and pure. With many classic meals and even more wine, it’s a great way to spend an evening. But be aware, reservations go fast, especially around popular times of year like Valentine’s and Christmas. Rose’s Luxury One of the next most popular restaurants in the area is Rose’s Luxury. Chef Aaron Silverman named the restaurant after his grandmother. One of the curious things about this restaurant, however, is that they don’t take reservations for those under 6 people. This means there is usually a long line out of the door ahead of dinner service. There are lots of seasonal offerings and lots of family style or tapas type dishes. Though they have a bar upstairs, the real glory is the restaurant below. Chez Billy Sud Chez Billy Sud is a French style restaurant, known for its beautiful mint-colored dining room. With a wonderful and romantic feel to the dining room, and the best food from the south of France, it’s worth a visit if just to experience what perfect French dining outside of Paris feels like. Fiola Mare Fiola Mare is another extremely popular restaurant near the Potomac. With a specialty of seafood right on Georgetown Harbour, this restaurant is one of the most romantic spots in D.C. with plenty of options for the aphrodisiac in all of us. From clams to king crab and urchin to a whole roasted fish, be sure to make a reservation (and a savings account) for this fun venture. Co Co Sala Co Co Sala is less classic, taking spins off of some of our favorite comfort foods like mac and cheese or crab cakes but makes them fantastic and worthy of the best restaurants. With sinfully delicious desserts, like the chef’s 3 or 5 course dessert experience, there’s much to be had at this wonderful restaurant. Known for any of their desserts, be sure to save room for the end of this meal! Le Diplomate Le Diplomate is another well-known restaurant that, according to the website, “pays homage to French café culture,” offering many different types of dishes. From simple croissants to onion soup, and steak and frites, to any number of French classics, this is a wonderful option, especially if you want eat “en plein air” while experiencing the D.C. streets. Restaurant Eve Restaurant Eve is another special place that even the Obamas have been spotted at. Created by Chef Cathal Armstrong, his wife Meshelle, and partner Todd Thrasher, this restaurant focuses on farm to table by showcasing some of the best things that the surrounding area has to offer. Located in a late 1800s historic warehouse, it’s a place where special occasions can be remembered forever. If you are looking for romantic restaurants in D.C., be sure to try any of the above--with no doubts that you’ll enjoy your romantic evening with that special someone.
