The first firearms were invented in China during the 10th century. Though much of that innovative firearm prototype remains apparent in the weaponry of today, innovators continue to make improvements to firearms and gun powder. The bullet’s polymer tip expands to create massive trauma, and its alloyed core makes down range shooting effective and easy. When these bullets hit their targets, dinner is assured for the happy hunter. Fresh Firearms Perhaps the most notable innovation in modern firearms was the repeating firearm. These weapons hold more than one cartridge at a time, allowing a shooter to fire more than once without stopping to reload. They modernized warfare. These weapons were further upgraded when Richard Jordan Gatling invented the first successful rapid-fire weapon. Known as a Gatling gun, the weapon was used by Union forces during the U.S. Civil War. Firing it required a 4-man team to operate a hand crank and to rotate multiple barrels. Today’s manufacturers are busy innovating and improving on those early weapons. Many modern gun makers are concentrating on creating lighter weapons with gentler releases. For example, the Uzi Pro, a submachine gun, includes a stabilizing brace on the side of the weapon to increase accuracy. Gun makers are also creating smaller weapons that can be more easily maneuvered on the hunting trail. For example, manufacturer Glock, recently introduced the Glock G40 Gen 4. This weapon looks like a handgun but operates like a hunting rifle. The 10 millimeter handgun is a semi-automatic pistol that can be used to bring down big game. Meanwhile, manufacturers are making upgrades and improvements to their firearms so they will appeal to women. Buyers can now find hunting rifles and handguns in fashionable prints and beautiful colors. The weapons gun makers are designing with women in mind aren’t just in trendy colors. They’re also lighter and easier to handle. For example, Berreta is designed a small and light hand gun that comes equipped with a laser for ensured accuracy. This small gun is designed to fit easily and comfortably in a purse or even in a pocket. Still other manufacturers are attempting to appeal to a youthful market by creating guns that mimic cell phones. For example, gun maker Taurus, has created a .380 hand gun with a shape that mirrors a cell phone. The small gun can easily be clipped to a belt, where it will appear like a cellphone. Though firearms are centuries old, innovators continue to make improvements to firearms and shotgun ammo. In Newton, many of these modern weapons and ammunition are available today.
