The castle is a veritable collection of styles, architecturally speaking, and an incredible combination of Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic and Mudéjar. Wandering around you see lots of features representing the historic journeys of the great explorer. Wonderfully photogenic, the inside of the castle is also worth a visit. Standing tall, at 29m high, on the Punta de Calaburras, on the way from Málaga Airport to Marbella, this is the major beacon in the region, guiding ships though the Straits of Gibraltar. The lighthouse has been controlled electronically since 1949, and it is hard to believe that the flashing light can be seen from over 28 nautical miles away. Stop and Take A Look: You can’t go inside the lighthouse but you can get up close to it, so you can take photos from all angles.
