Bulk material handling includes many different industries. Many times the equipment used with bulk material handling can be found in mining areas, food factories, and ship ports. When we think of this industry, we often think about the large conveyor belts carrying stacks of rocks, dirt, and minerals but they are used for so much more. The pieces of equipment used in these tasks have been placed under high levels of scrutiny over years to ensure that they work, they are safe, and to find any improvements that can be made. There are a lot of scientists and engineers that give their time and energy designing better Bulk material handling equipment for these various industries to make their work easier and faster. When we eat cereal for breakfast, the majority of people don't sit at the table pondering how the cereal was transported. Often this cereal has been at the ship port and transported by conveyor belts, stackers and many more pieces of equipment before being packaged and brought to the supermarket. A lot of science goes into the designing and building of these pieces of equipment. They have to be made just right for them to operate correctly but they also have to meet safety standards. Some of that equipment can be dangerous if not used correctly. Also, the people designing and testing it must be put through rigorous training after they have received years of education. Many of us don't know how long it takes for this Bulk material equipment to be perfected. The new innovations start from the beginning and over years it is designed properly and finally built and tested. Even then it has to go through the government to be passed. Bulk material handling is a very large Bulk material handling industry that doesn't get as much credit as it should for the effort that goes into making these pieces of equipment.
