Material handling conveyors are used to automate handling processes-- for example manufacturing, packaging, assembly and filling. There are many types of material handling systems, which include modular conveyors, flexible conveyors and automated assembly conveyor systems. Conveyors help to improve the rate of production efficiency through increasing throughput, line production and system uptime while at the same time reducing the cost of manual handling. These material handling systems are used to accumulate, elevate, distribute, divert, turn, flip, rotate, push, merge or wipe off products in different processes of manufacturing. There are two main types of conveyor systems which include customized and/or standard material handling systems. Examples of industries that use material handling conveyor systems include; electronics, automotive and food and beverages among many others. The following are some of the benefits of using material handling conveyors: Safe transportation of materials from different points - They allow materials to be safely transported between different places. Human transportation is both risky and expensive to employ hence these systems come in handy. Since these handling systems are controlled by computers cases of destruction of products due to errors and carelessness are highly reduced, hence making them the safest to use. Easy installation - These systems can be installed anywhere and fast since they take up less space as compared to other machines performing the same functions for example forklifts. They are also cheap since they use less energy and can move more products than the other machines that perform the same function. There are many options that you can choose from - Materials handling conveyor systems have many options that you can choose from. They include mechanical systems, fully automated systems and hydraulic systems. All of these systems can be equipped and customized to meet individual needs. They can move a wider range of products - These systems can move loads or products of all sizes weights and shapes. They also are equipped with advanced safety and handling features which ensure that accidents are prevented at all costs and if they do occur the damage is minimal. Due to their flat nature they can carry a load of any weight supported by the power, since basically there is no lifting but rather just sliding between different points. Lower handling costs for repetitive tasks - Materials handling conveyor systems are cheap to install and run. They use minimal resource with minimal or no human contact at all. A good example will definitely be the fully automated material handling system. It has robots that do almost all the work with a little supervision from humans. The only cost involved will be power and maintenance cost which is cheap as compared to human labour which could be very expensive and inefficient. There are no internal disturbances or pressure on materials - Due to the fact that these systems are flat or are built as a flat surface whereby materials are placed on top there is no pressure on the materials being transported. Another advantage is that there are no internal disturbances as there is minimal contact- only at the bottom -between these systems and the loads being transferred.
