When buying a used auto in Anchorage, there are certain questions that every potential buyer knows to ask. These questions include mileage reports, service history, and previous owner information. However, there are important questions you may not think to ask that could have a huge impact on how well the used car will work for you should you decide to buy. Can I Check the Oil? Instead, check the oil yourself. Look for tan or white oil color. Tan oil means coolant may be mixing in with the oil, while white oil signals a condensation problem. Can I Get the Car Inspected? If you’re buying from a private seller, get your own inspection before agreeing to purchase the vehicle. Vehicle inspections can uncover potential problems with the braking system, electrical system, and engine problems that could present safety hazards and end up costing you more money in unexpected repairs. Is This the Original Paint Job? Most car owners do not invest in a paint job unless the vehicle has been in an accident or been damaged by hail, etc. If the owner of the vehicle says that the car has been repainted, ask why. The last thing you want to do is spend money on a damaged vehicle that has had excessive body work, especially if you have a healthy purchasing budget. Opt for a vehicle that hasn’t been through the wringer. When buying a used auto in Anchorage, you’ll often fair better buying a certified pre-owned vehicle from a dealership. While you can buy with confidence from dealerships, make sure you still ask these 3 questions to know the exact condition of the vehicle you’re buying.
