Assam Teas from The Tea Trove

Food & Beverages,Business,Advice

Tea was first grown in Assam when the British brought tea seeds from China. To break the Chinese monopoly over the tea industry, the British decided to use India as a base for the export of teas. The teas from Assam slowly gained popularity and have become one of the most exported teas. The strong, robust flavour along with the beautiful amber liquor has made Assam tea one of the favourites among tea connoisseurs. Popularly known for its bold black teas, there are a few gardens that produce green teas as well. Some of the popular Assam teas on The Tea Trove available on theteatrove.com are:

Assam Green Tea: Grown in the Brahmaputra river valley, this is a non-fermented, organic green tea from Assam. Notes of roasted legume and grass can be relished throughout the cup profile of this tea. Being an organic tea, the liquor is seemingly delicate in look and texture. The taste is marginally astringent, noticeably roasted and grassy in mouth feel – typical of an Assam green tea.

Assam Black Tea: This naturally sweet tea with a malty body is an extra strong blend of superior organic and Fair Trade black teas from Assam India. It's a perfect tea for an English breakfast. The beautiful appearance of the dry leaves is accentuated with the accompanying sweet flowery aroma. The light golden colour hue in the liquor captures the attention quite vividly. It ticks all the checkboxes for a great first flush Assam tea. Assam Orthodox Teas are rolled with machinery in a manner that mimics hand-rolling. Most specialty tea is made with orthodox production methods. Orthodox tea is generally known as the champagne of teas as they are more nuanced and complex than other teas. All whole-leaf tea is made with orthodox production methods. Heritage Orthodox Teas are known for its distinctive flavour and taste.

Dejoo Tippy Assam Black Tea: A bold, black tea, an Assam black tea is known for its deep, burgundy-red colour and a wonderful pungent flavour. With a rich aroma and a flavour more sweet than malty, our Assam Melody is a perfect tea for anyone new to the world of Assam teas. It has a rounded feel as a result of which it's not too overpowering.

Cleopatra Tea: A unique blend of whole leaf Darjeeling and Assam, this tea is a full bodied tea with a musky, fruity taste. It tastes best with lemon and sugar, but may also be enjoyed with a touch of milk. Having several health benefits, this blend remains one of The Tea Trove's most popular teas. The Queen of Nile, the timeless beauty, Cleopatra, recognised the soothing, refreshing and calming properties of chamomile flowers on the banks of the Nile River in ancient Egyptian times- our Cleopatra Tea exudes the same calming and soothing properties as that of a chamomile.
