It’s easy to feel pressured under the need to grow in life and other everyday stresses. Ironically, while this should motivate us to do better it often winds up doing the opposite; devoicing us of the most vital motivational factor there is; ‘self motivation’. Don’t worry, it is not the end yet. Pay close attention and you’ll find the answer in this 5 step guide: Step 1: Identify What’s Getting in the Way You’ve heard the saying ‘admitting there is a problem is the first step towards solving it’ and we can’t agree more. Things may seem unclear and jumbled up at first, but if you give it some thought, you’ll see that what’s getting in your way is actually something very real and resolvable. It may have to do with your psychological or physical health or monetary constraints; whatever it may be, there’s a solution and it’s just a matter of finding it. Step 2: Relax; Free Your Mind It’s not that big of a deal. Of course, it may seem like it’s the end of the world but it will pass if you try hard enough to let it go. Remind yourself of how much value you bring to your organization, what a good son/daughter you are, how your pets love you and that you have some really good friends with you to share your grief. Stay positive; focus on yourself and freeing your mind. Mediate every day, preferably in a large group – Yoga and meditation will bring much needed peace to you and will even make you feel healthier and more focused so start looking for the best yoga classes around you. Step 3: Set Short-term Goals Baby steps. It’s not about getting too much done at once; it’s about getting it done right. Even if you can’t get it done the first time, don’t give up because ‘getting it done’ is the primary motive. Whether we’re talking about academic goals, relationship goals, work goals or personal goals – always begin with baby steps. Step 4: Note Your Progress If you’re not recognizing your progress, you’re not making any progress. Not only do the records act as added motivation for you to get closer to your goals, it will also help you raise the bar and aim higher. Get at least a little closer to your goals everyday and make a note of the progress on a piece of paper or a notes app to help keep yourself going. Step 5: The Snowball Effect We’ve all felt the snowball effect work its magic in our lives at some point in our lives. If you get the first few steps right, you should be in a position to feel the effects of every bit of progress you are making and at this point, and you’ve got to try and start translating the success of one aspect of your life into another, so the ball is always rolling. You get a good grade in school – now get more followers on your blog! Your relationship is finally going smooth – now achieve bigger things at work too! Your boss is happy with your performance – now get a gym membership and get in shape too! We hope you take something from this read and we hope you never forget the importance of being self motivated.
