Newly opened Gastroport along the bank of the Kama River in Perm, Russian Federation provides the perfect setting for its delectable Japanese and Peruvian cuisine… Designed by Saranin Artemy of ALLARTSDESIGN studio in conjunction with restaurateur Boris Kulinskiy, Gastroport is anointed with panoramic views of the newly renovated Perm port, ideal for a night out! Employing three relationships - wood, cement and brick, the interior is culled out of a significant industrial footprint sectioned off into multiple active zones - room, open kitchen, bar and mezzanine. A high ceiling augments the spaciousness; and the use of solid birch wood brought back from the northern edge adds to the raw character. The restaurant has a busy aura to it akin to an industrial setup, with close-knit seating; but comfort levels are maintained with the vertical openness of the space. Elements of quirk balance out the industrial feel of exposed conduits and unfinished walls like the patchwork glitzy bits from a real ship that anoint the washroom area – a noteworthy treatment that juxtaposes a sleek, defined ambience with the otherwise earthy appeal; and the colour of salmon that avers to the introduction of Japanese cuisine in Peru, with renowned Japanese chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa helming the kitchen. The restaurant exudes a characteristic rugged aura, ideal to let go and relax. The raw nature of the interiors is the perfect adjunct to the river bank, enveloping the milieu in a carefree yet connected landscape. Click here to view the images on indiaartndesign.com
