Chocolate for Chefs

Food & Beverages
It is no secret that chocolate is a key ingredient for many baking fans, and choosing the right chocolate for the job in hand requires care and attention. That is why cooks and bakers can be among the most choosy customers for confectionery retailers, and why it is so important to have the products they need in stock among your chocolate supplies.

Most retailers, understandably, will be catering in the main for the regular customer, i.e. the one who comes in for a quick snack or perhaps a box of something delicious to take as a present to friends. After all, it is that kind of customer who makes up the majority of any confectionery vendor’s footfall. That said, you can’t ignore the fact that, if you want to gain a reputation for quality and variety, increasing your range of chocolate supplies to include those that will appeal to cooks will have a beneficial effect on your business. Potentially Picky Customers

Using chocolate in cooking and baking is not quite as simple as it might sound. Many cooking aficionados are looking for specific types of this delicious ingredient. There are lots of recipes that call for a particular type of chocolate and, in fact, some recipes won’t work if they are attempted with the wrong type. It is little wonder then, that this category of consumer will be choosier about quality and purity and, as a consequence, the confectionery retailer is left with the question of how exactly to accommodate them.

Thankfully, the key to this problem is in its simplicity. The best way to attract the professional or indeed the amateur baker or cook is to have the most superior, purest products among your chocolate supplies. Forget gimmicks and trends, as all these buyers want is a quality ingredient that can be used in the recipes they are cooking.

What To Go For

If you want to begin to attract the attention of cooks and bakers who will eventually become loyal customers, then add a few basics to your chocolate supplies. Here are some quality products that will attract the appreciation of this kind of customer.

Willie’s Cacao Chef’s Cocoa – Intense, dark, and of exceptional quality, this chocolate is considered by many to be among the best. There are three chef’s cocoa varieties to choose from: Peruvian, Venezuelan and Madagascan, and all are made with 100% cocoa. Only the more experienced customer will be able to decipher the exact origin of each of the three elegant flavours. Often used as the finishing dusting for truffles, this product also makes a delicious enriching addition to gravies and casseroles.

Divine 70% Baking Bar – As this bar holds the fair trade accolade, there will be plenty of customers who will look out for it. The dark, rich and silky bar is made from Ghanaian cocoa beans and has a wonderful melting quality that lends itself perfectly to cakes, brownies and mousses. A white chocolate bar, made by Divine, is also a very popular cake-making ingredient.

Simón Coll 99% Dark Chocolate Bar – Simón Coll, the famous Spanish chocolatier is one of the oldest in Spain, and many discerning customers will rate this richly dark and luxurious chocolate bar as one of the best. With a heady intensity of cocoa, mellowed slightly by a toasted flavour, this bar adds a decadent touch to many a baking project. Not many customers will want to eat this chocolate straight, although a real connoisseur will no doubt give it a go!
