Kitchens have become the hub of family homes today, and having an inviting and cheerful space to gather is important. Creating an atmosphere that draws people in and is welcoming by simply changing the look and feel of the cabinets is probably the least expensive option for anyone on a budget.
By changing out hardware, painting and adding molding to kitchen cabinets can change the entire feel of your kitchen making it seem that you have done a complete kitchen remodel. Added lighting, putting in glass or removing the doors all together could be other options.
Paint and Stain
When kitchen cabinets look worn out and old just painting or re-staining them will develop a whole new look to the kitchen. Painting a bright, vibrant color or simply pure white can create the feel of a clean and fresh space. If your cabinets are dark wood stain, lightening them up will give the illusion of more space.
Glass Doors or Removal
By removing the doors all together and possibly wallpapering or painting the walls in back with great design elements will open up the kitchen space and create depth. By putting in glass doors and doing the same designs will achieve the same results and make it seem as though the entire kitchen design has changed.
Hardware and Molding
Changing out the hardware to a more modern type of pulls and knobs will transform your kitchen cabinets for minimal cost. Adding molding around the doors and painting different colors within and around them will add a whole new design to the cabinets making it appear that they are brand new.
Lighting and Appliances
By adding lighting under and over the kitchen cabinets will gain more lighting brightening up an otherwise dreary space. You could add the special touch of dimming to provide mood enhanced lighting to give the kitchen more appeal. Don’t forget out that ugly yellow dishwasher or the front of that dirty fridge. Applying stainless steel peel and stick laminate to the fronts of your old appliances helps to give the entire kitchen remodeling illusion.
If you are on a budget or just, don’t have the time to gut and do a total kitchen renovation there are cost effective and simple things you can do to change the look of your kitchen design. By overhauling your kitchen cabinets, you can make a warm and welcoming space for your entire family to gather.
