Turn Key Remodel specializes in custom cabinetry and counter top fabrication. There are many options for cabinets as well as many uses. We provide cabinetry for kitchens and bathrooms, offices and closets, family rooms and dining rooms and last but not least, garages. Basically, anywhere that you need storage is a good place for cabinets. There are many types of cabinetry with many accessories and amenities that can be incorporated into them. Cabinets are composed of a box with shelves, doors and drawers. Cabinet boxes and shelves can be made with particle board, melamine or plywood. We typically give our clients the option of melamine or plywood and never use particle board. Regardless of the material type, our cabinet boxes are always made with ¾" A-1 grade plywood unlike many other manufacturers that use 3/8" or ½" plywood. Natural plywood needs to be finished inside and out. The interiors are typically clear coated, however than can be stained or painted to match the exterior of the cabinetry. This is always done when the interiors are exposed with glass doors or open. Melamine is a vinyl coating that comes in many different colors and there are many patterns of different wood species available. It is a very durable material and easy to keep clean. Melamine does have a compressed wood core and can be a problem with constant moisture. Natural plywood tends to be more durable to moisture. Regardless, moisture contact should be avoided at all costs with any cabinetry. Cabinetry should be cared for the same as any piece of fine furniture. The cabinet box edges or fronts can be finished with a veneer tape or a hardwood face frame can be applied. Without a face frame is called European cabinetry and with a face frame is called just that, face frame cabinetry. I personally recommend face frame cabinetry because I believe it is more durable to have solid hardwood applied rather than a wood veneer tape. We can make a face frame cabinet look like a modern European cabinet by installing the doors and drawers very close together over the face frame creating a streamline appearance. Lastly, the doors and drawers can be installed within the cabinet box or face frame; called inset or over the cabinet box or face frame; called overlay. Most cabinetry is installed with the overlay method, however it is a very nice traditional look that we do occasionally to inset the doors and drawers within the face frame. Adding barrel type hinges really makes the cabinet look like custom furniture, but the concealed hinges gives it a nice clean look as well.
