The dishwasher is an appliance that defines the concept of a present-day home. Dishwashers provide us with ultimate hygiene, water and energy savings and save our time. Without them, we would be still washing dirty dishes with our own. No one would probably want to do that, right? Well, it could come to that at some point in time and the reasons could be many from inattentive care to low water temperature to defective detergent. The kind and amount of a dishwasher detergent that is used is an important part of getting the dishes clean. For hard water, a detergent with a higher phosphorous content – above 12 percent – needs to be used. Dishwasher detergent ages quickly and has a short shelf life. Old detergents should be thrown away. |
Here are some do’s and don’ts you might keep in mind to keep your dishwasher running:
Ensure proper loading and load distribution across shelves for the appliance to run efficiently.
Don’t overload your dishwasher. It can prevent dishes from getting completely cleaned, cause the dishwasher to sometimes leak, and the same dishes may get washed twice, placing additional wear on the unit.
Brush away fruit pits and other food particles so they wouldn’t get into the pump.
Clean the dishwasher seals and keep the door open between washes to dry out the interior. ?
Clean the control panel with a soft damp cloth. Don’t use any abrasive powders or cleaning pads.
Check the racks carefully to see if there are any nicks or cuts in the vinyl. These nicks and cuts need to be repaired.
