Hotels have always offered their share of unreasonable fees and this is rife across all areas of the business in terms of how they operate for their guests and the service they offer for their business. You need to just make sure you are well aware of what it is you will be paying for and the terms of payment as a customer in terms of this. Look to see what they will be billing you for and look to see how the other hotels tend to charge you. Bear all of the following in mind as a means to get a cheaper hotel room: Join a Loyalty Program: Some hotels offer special perks - including waived fees - to members of their loyalty programs. For example, members of Omni's Select Guest program get 3 MBs of complimentary Wi-Fi; joining this free program before your stay will save you money. Use Your Cell Phone: Hotel telephone charges can be confusing and pricey, so avoid the hassle entirely by using your own cell phone. Allow Plenty of Time at Check-Out: Many travelers are in such a hurry to leave their hotel that they sign and pay their bill without looking it over - and that's just what hotels are counting on. Allow yourself plenty of time to survey the charges and dispute any that seem unfair. You'll have a much better chance of getting them removed from your bill if you negotiate before you sign on the dotted line. Know Your Rights: Federal law requires that all hotel fees be clearly disclosed. This usually happens in the fine print - so read the terms and conditions of your reservations agreement carefully. If you discover fees at check-out that weren't disclosed to you in writing, point them out to the hotel staff and ask them to be removed. If you feel the hotel is falling behind and below your expected standard, voice these feelings and voice this as a means to ensure they will be able to attend to your needs right away in a rapid manner. Read up and see too who you should need to go to should you feel you wish to have and be given a refund / or some of your money back as a customer. This is key somewhat and you need to ensure this and be sure of this as a means to make sure you get what your due as a customer.
