Its often extremely frustrating but occasionally spray paint cans appear to be broken, faulty or even empty but that is not always the case. There are many things that you can be doing to ensure that your spray paint cans remain clean and blockage free. More often than not, the cans are in perfect working order - they just need a little assistance to get going. As with all spray paints, before your first use, you must make sure that you have shaken the can well and removed any protective seals around the nozzle. Try this and if you continue to have problems, use some of the ideas we have come up with below. If you are still having problems with spray paints try to turn the can upside down and shake it well. This then transfers the pressure built up inside the car to the nozzle area. Once you have shaken the can, try to spray the nozzle and see if anything comes out. This technique is best used for small blockages in the nozzle, most frequently caused by small dried up pieces of paint from the cans previous use. Alternatively, if that does not work you can try to clean the nozzle and see if that make any difference. The best way to do this is to place the nozzle, carefully into a solution of lacquer thinner. This will look to break down any outstanding particles and help to free up the nozzle hole.
