Another required test involves the filter. The HEPA system must be checked and scanned with specialized equipment to find any leaks. This test will differ depending on the level of cabinet in question, as higher levels have multiple stages of filtration. The final mandatory test is conditional. If the cabinet was just installed or has recently been moved then a leak test must be performed for any full biosafety cabinet certification. In the absence of a move, this test is unnecessary. Optional Tests Optional tests include various electrical measurements. Biosafety cabinet certification can be achieved with or without these, but they are important if your environment generates volatile gasses.
