Top 5 tips to decorate a small garden

Gardening is a wonderful hobby. Part of gardening is an expression of joy that reflects through caring and nurturing plants. A green environment not just creates a serene environment, but it is a tremendous stress buster. Nevertheless, not everyone is fortunate enough to find an appropriate space to fulfil the desire of gardening. So, how do you create a beautiful garden within a limited space? Let’s find out some creative ideas to beautiful a small garden in a limited space.

1. Plan your small garden according to aesthetics and functionality

Since you have a limited space, you need to plan your garden more carefully. Most of the small gardens are created on the terrace or inside the house. If you have some space in your backyard, you can also create a beautiful garden. When space is the main constraint, plan it whether you want to make it square, narrow or rectangular. If you have a limited supply of sun in your backyard then you need to determine your plants that grow best in low sunlight.

There are many ideas of gardening in Mornington Peninsula that can easily flourish with a careful planning. For a small garden, stick to a motif whether you want to grow flowers, shrubs or vegetables. It will save your time and energy.

2. Group your plants

Bring a new perspective to your small garden, create small pockets that is to group together similar nature of plants.

• Create variation with contrasting texture, shapes, colours and sizes.

• Group together all small plants and shrubs. To give a character, you can decorate the plant beds with natural rocks or flagstones.

• For a small garden, container gardening saves lots of space and also adds versatility in your garden. • Depending on the nature of plants, you can select pot types such as clay pots, metal or glazed.

• To create an attractive look, keep your pocket more informal. It means design your garden with odd numbers so that it doesn’t create straight lines or angles.

3. Level up your garden

Trim your grass well with a grass trimmer or a manual lawn mower. You find different variety of mowers for lawn mowing in Mornington Peninsula. A well-trimmed lawn creates some extra space. So, take the advantage of vertical space in your small garden. A little innovation can be very productive. For example, install a painted wooden ladder and place small pots on the steps of the ladder. You can also use some old or vintage stool in your garden, and place pots on those stools. To add variation, you can install a trellis and place couple of hanging plants on it.

4. Give a rustic touch

To give an eclectic design, you can decorate your garden with shovels, spades, and rusted old watering cans. Also you can create a trellis out of an old metal fence. Keep vintage stools or chairs on which you can place clay pots. These touches give your garden a discerned look.

5. Go for sitting arrangement

More often you go to your garden and feel to sit for a while amongst your loved plants. For a tight space, it is recommended placing a small wrought iron café chair with a foldable table. You can also put an easy chair in the garden and sit for a longer period of time.
