You do not have to break the bank to have a fun, memorable and valuable family holiday. For those looking for a budget-busting summer break, I think that camping in Spain is a wonderful option. You save a small fortune on accommodation and also get to enjoy an intimate and unique way of vacationing, plus you benefit from the gorgeous climate and cultural attractions of sunny Spain. |
Here is a handful of family-friendly Spanish camping grounds which I recommend to any parent looking to save a few pennies this summer.
Castell Montgri - Costa Brava
If your family are active types, then you will adore Castell Montgri in the northeastern coastal region of Costa Brava. This superb campsite boasts two swimming pool complexes, each with their own slides, bar and sun terrace. There is also an underground disco, outdoor cinema, restaurant, bars and relaxing gardens and a takeaway to keep mum and dad happy.
There are nearby beaches for times that you want to explore, whilst the resort of Lloret De Mar features many cafes, restaurants, bars and beaches. All the accommodation offers plenty of privacy and peace, but you will also make many new friends around the campsite with so many fun facilities and activities.
Camping La Torre del Sol - Costa Dorada
La Torre del Sol is located on the coast of Catalonia in the in the popular resort of Salou, near the historic port city of Tarragona. There are a handful of incredible beaches to check out, plus the legendary city of Barcelona is also easily reachable. PortAventura, Spain’s top theme park, is also nearby.
La Torre del Sol is bursting at the seams with great facilities and activities, including inviting pools that are lined with banana and palm trees, a sauna, whirlpool, restaurants, a cinema, bar, table tennis, archery, kids discos, Tai Chi and an outdoor gym. This campsite offers holiday homes, lodges or tent accommodation that provide you with your own space and the option for self-catering.
Vilanova Park - Costa Dorada
Another wonderful campsite in the golden beach lined Costa Dorada, Vilanova Park is surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens and palm trees to create the idyllic setting for your vacation. It features two huge pool complexes, as well as an indoor pool, wellness centre, mini golf, floodlit fountains, play areas and tennis courts. Inside a restored Catalan farmhouse you will find restaurants and a bar.
For days that you want to explore, there are a few nearby towns that are reachable by car or public transportation, whilst the nearest beach is the stunning Vilanova la Geltru - this just two miles down the road. A local bus from directly outside the campsite can also take you to Barcelona, which I highly recommend.
Camping Playa Montroig - Costa Dorada
Camping Playa Montroig is perfect for water-loving families thanks to the adjacent sandy beach and the brilliant pool complex, which feature heated lagoons and water slides. The enormous park also contains pristine gardens, crazy golf, tennis courts, a fully-equipped fitness centre, bars and restaurants.
The nearby port of Cambrils is perfect for sightseeing and home to beaches, shops and cafes, whilst Barcelona is also reachable from the campsite. Alternatively, PortAventura is just 22km away and the Aquapolis water park is a great place for the whole family.
Any of these campsites will ensure a fantastic vacation that doesn’t break the bank, plus we can also arrange cheap family travel insurance to get your covered.
