If you fancy improving your game amidst the beautiful landscape of the French Alps this summer, then you’ll be thrilled to discover that there is a fantastic range of golf courses in France’s stunning Haute Savoie region. Base yourself in Morzine and you’ll have two golf courses on your doorstep, both set in breath-taking Alpine landscape, and several more a reasonable drive away. Les Gets Golf Club Close to the hotels in Morzine is the Les Gets Golf Course, in the resort itself. The 18-hole course celebrates its beautiful mountain setting by naming each of the holes after one of the mountain peaks which surround it – the most challenging by far being the intimidating Mount Blanc, of course. The course is stunning, if a little tricky, as it’s surrounded by Alpine forests and mountain lakes which actually make up part of its challenging layout. But once you’ve got around this Par 70, you’ll feel you really deserve a rest in the stunning club house – and maybe even a traditional Haute Savoie meal on the terrace of its charming restaurant! Buggies are available to rent here if the terrain proves too challenging, and if you want to improve your game there’s a variety of different coaching packages you can choose from. Avoriaz-Morzine Golf Club Still close to the accommodation and hotels in Morzine is the Avoriaz-Morzine Club at Avoriaz. The 9-hole, Par 72 course is set on the edge of the stunning Proclou Forest, close to the Aravis mountains. While the golfing here is a little more limited it’s a great place for beginners, with 25 practice blocks, practice holes and practice bunkers as well as a putting green for those wanting to improve their technique. Private coaching and group classes are offered for all ages, and when you’ve had enough of the greens and fairways you can relax in the club house bar or restaurant and take in the mountain views instead. Further Afield Once you’ve got the golfing bug it’s hard to stop, so if you feel like you’ve exhausted the golf courses close to the hotels in Morzine it is probably time to venture out and discover some of France’s most famous golfing sites.
