A Passion for Fashion: 5 Fabulous Shopping Streets in Milan

Travel & Tourism
Whether you are just passing through on a Milan transfer or you are visiting the city for a longer stay, it would be a wasted opportunity to visit one of the world’s fashion capitals and not stop off for a little retail therapy in its glamorous high-end stores.

There are so many beautiful clothing stores and boutiques in the Italian city that the choice can seem quite daunting for a first time visitor. To make life easier I have compiled a list of the city’s most important shopping streets which contain all the major boutiques and flagship stores.

Here is my guide to the best streets to visit for high-end clothes shopping in the city.

Corso Venezia

Known as the Bond Street of Milan and attracting the same elegant, high-class clientele, the Corso Venezia is one of the city’s most prominent fashion thoroughfares. Thanks to the high-end shops and fashion boutiques, this has become a fantastic place to watch the ‘beautiful people’ of the city from the various cafés and restaurants set along its kilometre-long route.

Corso di Porta Ticenese

If you’re looking for clothing stores with a slightly edgier vibe then head to the Corso di Porta Ticenese. If Corso Venezia is Milan’s Bond Street, then this is its Portobello Road with a fantastic range of independent boutiques selling cool, urban clothing brands from Italy and beyond. As well as the great one-off shops, you’ll find the likes of Diesel, Carhartt and Camper all based here.

Corso Buenos Aires

The Corso Buenos Aires is the perfect place to come if you’re looking for ready-to-wear high street brands like H&M, Bennetton and the Italian Boggi. These might be familiar names but remember: this is Milan, so even the high street fashion comes with a little extra flare. The kilometre-long street is packed with shops so expect to spend some time here if you’re searching for a bargain.

Corso Vittorio Emanuele II

The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is home to Milan’s most iconic shopping parade, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Inside the stunning glass and brick structure you’ll discover the likes of Prada, Louis Vuitton and Fendi amongst many others. This is perhaps not the best place to stop for people watching if you’re on a tight budget as a coffee in the Galleria can cost more than €10, although the views of the well-heeled, beautifully-dressed Milanese clutching their Prada bags is well worth the price.

Via Montenapolene

If you know that what you’re looking to buy in Milan is nothing short of luxury then your best bet is to head for the Via Montenapolene. Everything here is top-end, exclusive and (yes, you guessed it) expensive – but if that’s what you’re looking for then this famous fashion street will be a dream come true. As well as flagship Prada, Valentino and Gucci stores, you’ll find the city’s best leather items in the shops of Salvatore Ferragamo, Fendi and Bottega Veneta.

How to Get to Milan

Getting to Milan couldn’t be easier with flights from the UK taking only two hours and 15 minutes. To get from the airport into the city, book a Milan transfer with Shuttle Direct online before you set off.

With a Shuttle Direct private Milan transfer your driver will be waiting for you at the airport when you land, ready to drive you directly to your hotel. (Or, if you can’t wait to start your Milan shopping spree, why not ask to be dropped off at the famous Galleria?)

Happy shopping!
