Fashion Maketh the Man in Milan!

Travel & Tourism
It’s well known that fashion maketh the man, and this is truer in Milan than anywhere else. The Milan Fashion Week is one of the most important events in the international fashion calendar, as Milan is synonymous with heritage, quality craftsmanship and exquisite, bespoke styles. If you’ve got money to spend, Milan is the place to go for high-end, high-quality menswear.

Once you’ve taken one of Shuttle Direct’s Malpensa shuttles into the city, you’ll want to hit the shops. Here is my definitive guide to the cream of the crop.

Al Bazar

Al Bazar’s distinctively deep green awnings on the Via Antonio Scarpa shelter sophisticated window displays, giving the passer-by a glimpse into the sophisticated world of designer tailoring. Style icon Lino Ieluzzi is the owner of Al Bazar’s Boutique; his own bold yet refined style is often seen in magazines and fashion blogs. The store focuses on quality materials, as well as giving a playful touch to the classic gentleman’s wardrobe. You’ll find an easy elegance with pops of colour running through the boutique’s offerings of formal and casual menswear.

Stone Island

Stone Island’s spacious modern store has an industrial vibe, offering a very modern collection of clothing with down jackets, thick knit sweaters, causal button-downs and much more. The brand carries out pioneering research into fibres and textiles, and has developed more than 60,000 dyes in their labs. Its clothing is highly functional and unique: this season’s Nylon Metal Flock jackets are dyed and then decoloured by hand, so that each item is entirely idiosyncratic. If you’re looking for a fresh take on menswear, this under-appreciated brand is a must-visit.

M. Bardelli

M. Bardelli was originally a hat business in the 1940s, but now the sleek store on Corso Magenta sells a range of well-made and luxurious menswear. It is one of the oldest menswear institutions in the city of Milan. The classic, formal tailoring takes some inspiration from English style, and it’s worth paying particular attention to the brand’s excellent knitwear.

Siniscalchi

Located a little north of the centre on the Via Carlo Porta, you’ll find Siniscalchi, a renowned Milanese shirt maker. This family business, which was established in 1948, makes every kind of shirt, ranging from formal attire to pyjamas. The brand’s embroiderer provides beautifully fine embroidery of family crests, among many other options. With hundreds of bolts of fabric to choose from, – some of which are commissioned by Sinicalchi himself – all men can find their perfect shirt here. Just don’t look at the price tag!

Getting There

It’s best to fly into Madrid’s largest airport, Malpensa (MXP), and be picked up by one of Shuttle Direct’s Malpensa shuttles. A pre-booked ride is the ideal way to start your time in Madrid; you can be in the city in just under an hour. Of course, after all that shopping you’ll also need a Malpensa shuttle to carry you and your luxury goods back to the airport.

Author Plate

Lukas Johannes is a driver for Shuttle Direct, the number one provider of shared and private airport transfers all over Europe and northern Africa. If you’re looking for the most affordable Malpensa shuttle transfer, Lukas and his colleagues can make sure that you and your luggage get to and from the airport swiftly and safely.
