Robert “Bob” Marley is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable forces to have emerged from the third world. His life story and work have impressed upon so many millions to the extent that visits to the place of his birth in Nine Miles, St. Ann are in the high thousands each year. At his birth place, his legacy is preserved and is shared at an established Mausoleum. The home in which he lived after migrating to the capital city of Kingston is called the Bob Marley Museum and is a site where many visit to bask in the rich essence of this great legend.
Inspirational music is Bob’s gift to the world; his lyrics deliver messages that many say were way before their time in relevance; many of which have manifested as truth which needs no defense. Marley’s works are in their own right education for the ignorant and medicine to the sick. Those who are already enlightened they bask in the glory of their consciousness and grow some more.
Excellence in athletics has been one of Jamaica’s remarkable commodities. In the 1948 Olympics in London, Author Wint won a gold medal for Jamaica; we boast other talents such as Ben Johnson, Grace Jackson, Merlene Ottey. Over all since 1948 Jamaica has won 77 medals at the Summer Olympics averaging almost 5 medals each game.In recent years, Jamaica has produced some of the greatest and fastest Sprinters; for sure we run fast and many say it’s all in the yam; there is no real proof, but speed is in the muscle line of many Jamaican athletes.
Jamaica boasts having the “Fastest Man on Earth” as its son. Usain St. Leo Bolt holds the record of being the fastest man to have ran and won the one hundred meter race. He hails from this little island in the sun; specifically from the parish of Trelawny. Jamaica has also had many other athletic sons and daughters who have contributed to her having such a significant stature in the world.
One cannot get over the Blue Mountain Coffee and the rums that are produced here. Jamaica has approximately one hundred and twenty rivers (120) rivers and you bet enjoying one of the many waterfalls is certainly one of Best Things to do in Jamaica.
