While the bargain bucket option, which is discouraged, costs about $1200, most travel agencies will charge a fee in the ballpark of $2,000 to $3,500. No matter how steep the price, however, all climbers who make it to the top will tell you that the steep trek was everything they hoped for, and more. How Do I Get There? Most people choose to fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), which can be reached easily with five popular airlines. You may find that it’s best to book flights with KLM, which has regular flights and offers handy connections in the US, the UK, and throughout the rest of Europe. What Should I Take? Of course, durable walking boots and attire are a given, but the rest will depend heavily on who you choose to book with. While some companies will supply you with sleeping mats and bags, you usually have to bring your own gear. It’s helpful to ask the agency for a kit list so that you’ll have a clear sense of what to bring.
