Plastic tumbling media is something that is often recommended for projects that involve metal removal, finishing and polishing that can be used for attaining better surface finishes. They are also much milder when compared to the aggressive ceramics. The plastic tumbling media components are used with vibratory machines to work on vibratory finishing requirements. The process of finishing actually refers to the smoothing, deburring, polishing, cleaning and separating of the plastic or metal parts. This whole process of finishing is usually carried out in various machines referred to as finishing machines. The small parts, media and different types of finishing compounds are loaded in the machines. Once these machines start to operate, the parts and media rub together and the media effectively abrades the parts. Some of the most widely used finishing machines include the vibratory finishing machines and tumbling barrels. The tumbling machines are equipped with barrels mounted on systems and meant to rotate during operation. These machines are available as bench and floor models. While some of them are available as closed models, others come in the form of open models. Barrel systems are generally used when there is a strong need for aggressive burr removal. These machines can also be used for radiusing and burnishing of edges and the separating of parts. In the tumbling barrels, it is possible to run the loads with or without the media. The barrels are capable of working effectively when they are partially filled with the loads. They are perfectly well suited to manage heavy loads. Once the screen doors are joined with the barrels, they function as excellent tools for the separation of parts. The dry barrels and wet barrels are mainly used for finishing parts. The process of wet finishing involves usage of compounds and media with water. Wet tumbling barrels can work well when it comes to the cutting and polishing of burrs. They also work efficiently on metal parts, which is why they can be used easily with cleaning parts. The wet barrels can offer reliable performance even when they are used for the dry tumbling process. The dry barrels, on the other hand, can prove to be useful in various places where there is scarce availability of water in large quantities. They can also offer safe performance when they are used for fragile and intricate parts. With the help of dry tumbling barrels, both metal parts and plastics can be grounded, polished and deburred. Plastic tumbling media gives greater surface finish for plastic or metal and gives little shine, it is not used for high finish polishing.
